Remembering: Homecoming

Oil on linen canvas
60cm x 80cm

In this painting, a constellation of hummingbirds arcs toward the centre of a spiral conch shell—each flight a step deeper into the heart of becoming. Swirling in delicate hues of seafoam, lavender and light, the shell becomes both sanctuary and crucible: a sacred vessel for the slow, courageous work of healing.

Remembering: Homecoming is a meditation on the cycles of personal transformation. Inspired by the words of Marianne Williamson—“Allowing the pain of personal growth to be a crucible of your spirit is one of life’s highest callings”—this piece honours the often unseen labour of emotional healing. Within each curve of the spiral lies the quiet unearthing of what was buried: old wounds, unspoken truths, the aching tangle of shame, anger, self-judgement.

Yet, the birds fly forward.

Their flight suggests that every passage inward—no matter how steeped in shadow—is also a return to light. That each turning of the spiral invites us to shed another layer, to become more fully aligned with the essence of who we truly are.

This is not the fast flight of escape, but the sacred circling toward authenticity. A remembering. A returning. A homecoming.
