My pottery is thrown on the wheel, fired in my modest home studio, and is always changing, much like myself. Each piece is made with the simple, honest intention of sharing beauty.

The pottery process subjects the artwork to the elements of earth, air, fire and water. This process can be a cruelly unforgiving one as any of these elements can cause the clay to slump, shatter and crack. A humble ball of earth teaches me the practice of flow, experimentation, surrender, acceptance and perseverance.

The relentlessly regenerative nature of clay allows me to try and try again even as I encounter failures as I play with what chance will do to my lovingly constructed forms in the heat of the kiln.

As you view my artwork, may you be like the spirit of earth, grounded and resilient as it experiences the changing conditions of life. The earth embraces the undergrowth, the fungi, the compost and the weeds just as it embraces bursting buds and butterflies. May you be rooted and present, and may the seeds you sow thrive in the toughest seasons of rainstorms and harsh winds.

May you be reminded to nurture these seeds with kindness, trust and affection as you receive my lovingly-made pieces of art.

From my heart to yours,
Dawn
